Tri Dao, Chief Scientist at Together AI.
I am incredibly excited to welcome Tri Dao as an advisor to Radical Numerics!
Tri is the Co-Founder and Chief Scientist of Together AI and leads the Dao AI Lab at Princeton University. He’s best known for pioneering FlashAttention and Mamba, two of the most influential breakthroughs in modern AI architectures and systems, helping make large-scale model training and inference dramatically more efficient.
This one is especially meaningful to me personally. Tri and I were labmates in Chris Ré’s Hazy Research lab at Stanford. When I was just getting started in research, Tri was one of the first people to mentor me, including on S4ND, one of my earliest research papers. Beyond being a brilliant researcher, he’s one of the kindest people I’ve had the privilege of working with.
At Radical Numerics, Tri will help guide our research strategy in ML systems, optimization, and scaling as we build increasingly powerful biological foundation models. His expertise in pushing the boundaries of what’s computationally possible will be invaluable as we work toward general biological intelligence.
It’s incredibly special to go from learning from Tri as a young researcher to having him help shape what we’re building today.
